Five for Friday – May Favorites
The month of May brought along not only new beauty products, but my birthday which brought along even more wonderful products. These were the top 5 that I couldn’t get enough of all month.
1. Boscia BB Cream ($38)
Boscia has managed to outdo themselves this time, all of their products are amazing, this however is exceptional. The BB in this cream stands for “blemish balm,” the oil-free cream creates a glowing, lustrous, and flawless finish as it hydrates, firms, and soothes the skin. It helps to diminish the appearance of pores, fine lines, and uneven skin tone while providing long-wearing, natural coverage. It has some major power player ingredients including : Abyssine which shields and soothes skin, hydroxyprolisilane to promotes skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines, and beta-glucan to protect against environmental damage.
2. Origins Checks and Balances Cleanser ($18.50)
Initially I was a little skeptical of this cleanser, it had several promising ingredients as well as a few that I was not looking forward to. Overall though the good outweighed the bad so I gave it a try. The sales woman said that it was meant to be a combination skin cleanser, which meant it would dry out oily spots and moisturize dry ones. Insert eye roll. Surprisingly though, it does make my skin feel really good. At first it felt like it was stripping my skin, it was squeaky clean. After a few minutes though, my skin was looking fabulous. It wasn’t oily, and I didn’t have any dry patches. After using it for a few days my skin was looking great and feeling great. It was a win win.
A girl can never have too many make-up brushes, especially when they are for foundation. Taklon brushes are my favorite for liquid foundations, this brush is synthetic taklon but has the shape of a powder brush. That rounded top shape makes applications a breeze, it adds the color very slowly, so you are able to build up the coverage where you need it without wasting and of the product. With this you are able to get the look and feel of airbrush foundation without the high prices. This brush is also great for contouring with liquids, the application process allows for soft feathering motions that make blending a breeze.
4. L’ Oreal True Match Blush in Barely Blushing ($10.95)
As far as drugstore blushes go, these are by far my favorites. I have just about every shade, lately though I have been loving coral shades. These blushes also make it easy for make-up novices to find the proper colors. They come in either warm, cool, or neutral tones, which makes it easy to find your complementary color. The shade Barely Blushing is a silky smooth coral that adds just the right amount of color to liven up any complexion. The shade is perfect for summer, compliments a tan, and looks natural. Another perk is that its easy to depot if you want to but it into a palette.
5. LORAC Croc Palette ($36)
This has been a staple in my kit for years, I find myself reaching for it quite often. It comes with 4 eye colors and a blush. The eye shadows can be used to create simple to dramatic looks and compliment each other beautifully. The blush color is perfect when going for a natural look or to compliment a smokey eye. The versatility of this palette is what keeps bringing me back to it, the lightest eyeshadow can be used as a highlighter when in a pinch.
