Sheer Cover

With spring fast approaching it’s time to rethink your make-up regimen. Gone are the winter days when you wanted a full coverage foundation, its time for a lighter approach, that means tinter moisturizers. A tinted moisturizer is exactly what it sounds like, a moisturizer with a bit of color. They can range from sheer to medium coverage, and occasionally include an SPF also.

-Tinted Moisturizer Grade Sheet-

Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer ($42) A

This sheer moisturizer offers an SPF of 20, lasts in the most humid of areas, and looks natural on the skin. This is recommended for someone with normal to oily skin.

Aveda Inner Light Tinted Moisturizer ($28) B-

This offers a great color pay off, the shades are limited though and it turns ashy on darker complexions. The SPF 15 is a plus, but doesn’t make up for the sticky texture. I recommend this to someone who wants to use all natural products.

Becca Luminous Skin Colour ($42)  A+

People who are looking for a dewy finish opposed to a matte one will adore this. It offers a beautiful glow, a lightweight finish, and a great texture that sinks into the skin perfectly. This is great for people with dry skin types, its very moisturizing.

Josie Maran Tinted Moisturizer ($38) A+

This feels like a tinted moisturizer and covers like a foundation, the coverage is unparalleled. Anyone looking for a thin texture and major color will love this. It also features Argan Oil, a new skincare power player.I recommend this for anyone, its an all around great moisturizer.

Boots No7 Soft and Sheer Tinted Moisturizer ($8.99) C+

Light coverage takes new meaning with this moisturizer, its going to add a tint, but just barely. It will make you look “glow-y” though, which is beautiful. For the price it should definitely be considered for someone with normal to dry skin.

Bobbi Brow SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer ($40) A+

A tinted moisturizer should cover well, have a nice texture, and feel fresh and light on the skin. This does all of that, plus it offers an SPF 15! This is great for anyone who wants a general tinted moisturizer, with normal skin. (Another perk? Bobbi Brown doesn’t test on animals!)

Urban Decay Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($32) B+

I love the packaging on this one, however that isn’t whats going to protect my skin or keep it moisturized. One cool thing about it is the light diffusing pigments, it looks beautiful on the skin, and helps conceal the look of fine lines and wrinkles. I recommend this for someone who may have fine lines or any other blemishes that need to be concealed.

Philosophy Hope in a Tinted Moisturizer ($38) B-

This features a nice color selection, and covers well, but its thick! As the weather gets warmer typically you would want a lighter coverage. Someone with extremely dry skin would enjoy this.

Olay Definity Color Recapture ($24.99) A

This lasts all day, helps correct the skin when it’s on and off, and features glucosamine which helps fight hyperpigmentation. If you want to be able to pick this up when your out, its widely available, and a great option.

Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisture ($39) B+

The color choices for this are lacking, however it does improve the skins texture, and helps to combat dehydration. This is more for the person who is interested in treating their skin, more so than getting coverage.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer ($11.99) A

Can you say Retinol? This moisturizer is going to help improve your skin when its on and off. The Retinol helps with fine lines and wrinkles, oh and it offers great coverage. A persona with more mature skin will love this!

What are your thoughts on Stila’s tinted illuminating moisturizer?

    • Its decent, I think its too sheer for me, but I like it on complexions that don’t need a lot of coverage. I have mixed it with my foundation when in a pinch to add some shimmer to my skin.
